Wie bereits erwähnt, ist NativeWeb eine jener Websites, die von unterschiedlichsten Suchmaschinen, bei der Suche nach Begriffen wie: "Indigene", "Indigene Gruppen", "Indigenous Groups", "Natives", etc. ganz oben gereiht wurde. Bei näherer Betrachtung erwies sich die Seite als eine Fundgrube an unterschiedlichsten Themen in Bezug auf Indigene Gruppen rund um die Erde.

Diese Erklärung ist auch auf Spanisch angeführt, was schon etwas auf die sprachlichen und somit auch regionalen Schwerpunkte der Website hinweist.
Zu den weiteren Absichten von NativeWeb gehört es, „to provide a cyber-place for Earth s indigenous peoples.“ Besonderer Wert wird dabei auf Kommunikation gelegt: „Our purpose is [...] to foster communication among peoples [...].“
Eine entscheidende Funktion erfüllen dabei neue Technologien, wie das Internet:
